We spent an afternoon with Hugo Wood, florist and co-founder of Botanical Brothers, at their Brooklyn studio — a working space defined more by movement than by stillness. Flowers coming in, orders heading out, conversations unfolding as they go.
Botanical Brothers began simply: Hugo and his brother Fabian wanted to make flowers feel more approachable. Seasonal, locally sourced, and unarranged — sent loose, so people could take part in the making. Less perfection, more participation. That idea still guides everything they do.

Hugo moves through the day without much pause. Checking deliveries, stopping to talk, lifting crates, heading back out again. It’s practical work, done instinctively. What he wears follows the same logic — things that don’t demand attention, but hold up to the rhythm of the day.

That afternoon, Hugo wore the Rory Chukka boot. Comfortable, durable, easy to forget about once it’s on. A well-made staple that shows up, does its job, and keeps going.

Nothing precious. Nothing overdone. Just everyday movement, exactly as it happens.
